The SC-14 is a short shank reverse gag designed to encourage more flexion at the poll, forward motion, and suppleness while still giving you enough lift to help shape the horse through the turn.
The reverse gag action helps you pick the horse up and bring the shoulders through without taking away the forward motion you need in a run. It’s a useful bit for one that needs help staying soft, responsive and shaped without feeling overly restricted.
A looser curb works best with this bit. It gives the bit more feel and flexibility and slows the reaction down slightly, allowing the horse a little more time to respond.
